The June 27 Weekend Update (important information about what's happening this weekend)

Hello there fellow phlock members! It's Hump Day (minus one) can I get a WOO HOO?  Here are a couple of things for you to keep in mind...

  • Make your plans to get out to enjoy Scott Kirby next Wednesday (July 2) night at Gus' Food & Spirits in Coralville! It's a One Particular Harbor with a special twist! Remember, there is no charge for this special performance, but if you want to reserve a seat up front for the performance for just $5 you must do that by contacting Bart at 319-930-2833 (voice or text) by this Sunday! Thanks to the 26 club members who have already made a reservation - we want to see you all out on Tuesday night (with or without a reserved seat). Don't miss this special performance (which is Scott's only Iowa appearance)!
  • Fins Up to those of you who will be attending the Chicago concert this weekend! Don't forget about the plans to tailgate with the Chicago Parrot Head Club on Saturday. They will be tailgating in Section A1. If you want to park with the Chicago club, you need to meet at the Odyssey Sweet Spot Sport Bar (19110 Oak Park Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477) at 10:30 am so you are in place for the caravan in to the venue. If you don't join the caravan, you can still wander over to section A1 to hang out with the group. Remember it is a shar & share alike attitude so if you have drinks to share, snacks, desserts, jello shots, community food, etc...bring it along! As an added bonus, they also have their own private port-a-potties (how's that for an incentive) and a special invitation to the parrot-Dice Lounge featuring Johnny Russler & the Beach Bum Band!
  • If you aren't headed to Chicago there's still plenty of stuff happening. Don't forget about the golf tournament hosted by Papa's Sports Bar on Saturday morning (stop by Papa's for more info); the special concert by Sunny Jim at the Tiki Barn in Burlington on Saturday night; or the BBQ RoundUp in Cedar Rapids which will be going on all weekend. Make sure to be there for The Bamboozlers as they rock the roundup to a close on Sunday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm!

Finally, we hope you will consider joining us on Friday, July 4 for the 4th Fest Parade in Coralville! We need a huge Parrot Parad Brigade to come out to promote the Isle of Iowa (and Island Fever Phlocking) and spread that tropical spirit. Please let Randy Havlik ( [email protected] or 319-804-8675 ) know if you can attend.  You can also sign up at the OPH at Gus' on Wednesday night!
