Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band resumed their “Songs From St. Somewhere” tour on Saturday night at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY. The set list from the show is now available. For the final encore Jimmy performed “You Never Can Tell” (a Chuck Berry cover) with Brendon Mayer, son of Peter Mayer on guitar.
The Courier Journal has a review of the show: “Jimmy Buffett, Parrotheads turn Yum! Center show into a beach blanket drinking party”
Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band delivered more than two hours of party music, and the Parrotheads obliged in grand, two-fisted tradition. Everything was about creating a laid-back, buzzed-on-the-beach vibe, which was personified by guy fans wearing plastic grass skirts and Buffett going barefoot.
Even songs that once had a nice whiff of melancholy were accompanied by steel drums — the least melancholy drums ever. The wistful qualities of “Come Monday” were turned breezy, for example, which robbed one of Buffett’s finest moments of its authority. It became just another song with steel drums, like the three before it and the four after.
