WOW!!! The Fever is really starting to spread! Can you believe that we now have attendees coming from over 30 different states (plus Canada & the Caribbean)? Clear Lake, Iowa is definitely going to be the center of the Trop Rock universe on Labor Day weekend – Got your tickets yet?
Here is the latest update about the Island Fever Showcase at the Surf Ballroom. Read on to get all of the latest details!
Daily Schedule:
The detailed schedule (with specific performance times) will be posted to the official event website (islandfevershowcase.com) this weekend. However, if you are reading this update you get to see it first by clicking here - SCHEDULE! Remember, there are two full days of entertainment scheduled for the Surf Ballroom – Saturday, September 1 & Sunday, September 2. On each of these days, the entertainment schedule will begin at Noon (Surf doors open at 11:00 am) and will continue through Midnight. Each performer will have a 90 to 120 minute set with approximately 30 minutes between each main set.
Tickets:
While VIP Floor Seating is completely sold out, there are still a number of great ticket options available! Two Day General Admission Tickets are available through the Surf Ballroom (onsite and at surfballroom.com) for just $90. Two-day tickets allow unlimited entry over the two days – Saturday, September 1 & Sunday, September 2. You may add a booth upgrade to your ticket purchase (for a small fee) to guarantee a seat.
Single Day Tickets will be available starting sometime next week. Single-day tickets can be purchased through the Surf Ballroom (onsite and at surfballroom.com) and are priced at $55 for each day. Single-day tickets are good for admission to all musical sessions on either Saturday or Sunday.
Both Single Day Tickets & Two-Day Tickets will be on sale until August 31 or until they are sold out (whichever comes first).
As mentioned, VIP floor seating is completely Sold Out, but we do have a few special Premium (VIP) Booths (VIP) available for purchase at islandfevershowcase.com. These special booths include admission for four people, a special laminate event badge for each person & a cool bling bag (again one for each person) filled with a variety of treasures. Each booth will seat up to four people and they are extremely limited (at this time only seven remain available). Premium (VIP) Booths can be purchased for $525 at islandfevershowcase.com. These will be the last VIP offerings that will be available!
The only ticket option that may be available at the door is a special walk-up ticket good for entry to the event after 6:00 PM. These tickets will be first come, first serve & will only be sold at the door (if space permits). This special ticket will cost $30 for each night. Again, they can only be purchased at the door on the day of the event (if available). We anticipate that these tickets will be standing room only.

Food & Beverages:
No outside food or beverages are allowed into the venue. The Surf Ballroom provides a full bar with very reasonable drink prices! There will also be options to purchase food right on-site at the Surf! If you wish to take a break, there are several local establishments’ right there in what is known as the Surf Music District that serve food & drinks. All are easily walkable from the venue. The downtown district (with many more bars & restaurants) is just a few blocks away and is walkable as well. The bottom line – if you never want to leave the Surf during the event – you won’t have to, but if you prefer to step away for a bit there are many options!
Gypsies in the Palace – the Friday Night Celebration
We have an epic Friday night pre-event celebration - Gypsies in the Palace ready to kick off your weekend! This celebration will include an exclusive party in City Park that will feature live music & a special food truck court (presented in partnership with the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce). You can even bring your own coolers & lawn chairs into the park for this event (or buy your cold beverage at the VFW across the street & carry it over to the park)! The park is located in the heart of the downtown district right on the shores of Clear Lake – a beautiful setting! In addition, several of the local establishments will be hosting exclusive musical appearances by many of the musicians who will be performing at the Surf on Saturday & Sunday. Planning is even under way for an exclusive Pirates & Poets Songwriter’s Set (a ticketed event)!
Hotels & Lodging Options:
Our official host hotels include the Best Western Holiday Lodge; Microtel Inn & Suites; South Shore Inn; & Rumorz Neighborhood Hideaway all located right in Clear Lake. The South Shore Inn is already sold out, but all of the other properties do currently have rooms available in our special event room blocks under Isle of Iowa/Island Fever. There are many great hotels located in Clear Lake, Iowa, but they are not large properties. Make your lodging reservations ASAP!
There are also many additional hotel accommodations available in Mason City, Iowa (just a short 5 mile drive from the Surf Ballroom). Since Clear Lake is a well-known Iowa tourist destination, there are also many private residences that offer rentals through Vacation Rental by Owner or through Airbnb (Airbnb.com). If you would prefer to camp, there are also many camping options available around Clear Lake. These options include: Clear Lake State Park; Oakwood RV Park; & McIntosh Woods State Park.
Make your hotel/lodging arrangements now (make sure to include Friday night too), and please make sure that you reference that you are in town for the Island Fever Showcase (with the Isle of Iowa)!
For those who may be saying, “I’d like to attend, but I think I will wait until next year…”
I want to be completely honest with you. At this point-in-time, there is no plan to hold this event again. Never. Ever. The Surf Ballroom (our partner in this event) has agreed to hold this event this year (and this year only). While it is hard to predict whether or not they may change their mind after this incredible event concludes, there is no way to know if this will be your one & only opportunity to see this amazing Trop Rock lineup of stars perform on this world famous stage in this iconic venue. No pressure – just need you all to know that this is scheduled as a “one & done” event!
