That’s right Parrot Heads – tomorrow is the day that we host Eastern Iowa’s biggest & best Party with a Purpose – Island Fever Phlocking! The Isle of Iowa Parrot Head Club’s annual phundraiser will support the Johnson County Crisis Center & Waypoint Services for Children & Families.
Waypoint provides shelter & support for those in crisis due to homelessness, poverty, domestic violence or sexual assault. They also provide quality child care to over 600 children daily from all socio-economic levels. Serving primarily Linn, Benton & Jones counties, Waypoint was originally established as a chapter of the Cedar Rapids YWCA back in 1894 and has been committed to serving eastern Iowa for the past 118 years.
The Crisis Center provides immediate support through their Crisis Intervention, Food Bank & Emergency Assistance, and Community Intervention Programs. The Crisis Center – established in 1970 – has evolved from it’s original service (a telephone hotline) to a comprehensive collection of community services that make them the first call in Johnson County to meet the needs of needs of individuals and families in crisis.
